- It will be a lost school day, but rather make that decision than handle school buses in the ditch, says Andreas Burander, principal of Linnaeus School in Älmhult.

The decision to cancel the school buses was made on Wednesday by Älmhult's education administration.

- We did it as a precautionary measure, he says.

Three times more absent

About 180 students were absent from Linnaeus School on Thursday, which is three times more than usual.

In the whole municipality, about 500 students were affected by the canceled school buses.

- Staff were also affected, but all were on site a few hours late, says Andreas Burander.

Lost study time

Anna Rix-Grönvall is operations manager for the primary school in Älmhult.

She explains that such incidents are not common, but that they work to ensure that students do not miss out on study time.

- We get to make an estimate of what this has meant, just as we have done during the corona.

There are ways to deal with lost teaching.

We have to make that assessment afterwards, how serious this is, how much time it is about and how you can make up for it, says Anna Rix-Grönvall.

On Friday, the school buses and teaching are expected to work as usual again.
