Members of the Republicans have until 2 p.m. to vote in the first round of Congress which will nominate their candidate for the presidential election.

The results will be known at 2:30 p.m.

It is impossible to determine who will come out on top in the first round.

TO ANALYSE

It is at the beginning of the afternoon that we will know the results of the first round of the LR primary which will designate the party's candidate for the presidential election.

The 140,000 members can still vote electronically until 2 p.m.

Christian Jacob, the president of the Republicans, will make public the results during a press conference at 2:30 p.m.

Very smart who will manage to predict which of Valérie Pécresse, Michel Barnier, Éric Ciotti, Xavier Bertrand or Philippe Juvin will come first.

The candidates wait "calmly" for the results

How are the five LR candidates dealing with the pressure?

"Peace of mind", confide the teams of contenders for the LR nomination, even if the absence of polls and feedback from the polling stations makes the ballot particularly stressful.

This ballot is also open because no candidate really stood out during the various debates.

No one, therefore, can risk the slightest prognosis and there will inevitably be disappointments.

So the candidates prepare as best they can.

Valérie Pécresse took a break at the theater on Wednesday evening and will follow the announcement of the results from her HQ in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.

For his part, Michel Barnier will take a morning bike ride before also gathering his troops in his HQ to follow Christian Jacob's press conference.

Total and unusual uncertainty of the ballot

Eric Ciotti, he planned to meet his relatives next to the party headquarters, in a restaurant on rue Vaugirard.

The Niçois dreams of a second round and is already working on the strategy to adopt in the event of qualifying for the second round.

Philippe Juvin goes to the provinces for family reasons.

As for Xavier Bertrand, he spent the evening yesterday with his family, at his home in Saint-Quentin, before hitting the road this morning for Paris.

"It is the end of a very special election", sums up those around him who underline the total and unusual uncertainty which reigns over the ballot.
