The first alarm about a feared water leak was received shortly after 05 o'clock on Thursday morning.
According to the municipality, many are without water and residents in Flen, Mellösa, Häleforsnäs, Skebokvarn and Sparreholm are now asked to be economical with water.
Staff are out looking for the leak and at present there is no forecast for when it will be fixed.
