Instagram launches first-of-its-kind filter for Emirati passport holders to celebrate the Golden Jubilee
Social media giant Instagram has launched a festive filter for UAE passport holders to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the country.
Instagram, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, developed the filter for use by UAE and Expo 2020 Dubai passport holders, making the UAE the first country to have this filter on the social networking site.
The Instagram filter was created using augmented reality technology, to coincide with the UAE's golden jubilee celebrations.
To activate the filter, users can point the camera at their passport cover, showing colorful clips, the golden 50 hologram, and the UAE national anthem.
The UAE passport was ranked in October of this year as the most powerful passport in the world by the Passport Index, an interactive online tool that provides users with information about passports of different countries and enables them to compare and evaluate them.
The arrangement of passports depends on the holders' freedom of movement and travel without obtaining a prior visa.
Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Faisal Lutfi, said: "The emergence of the UAE passport on Instagram as the first filter of its kind is a reflection of the country's serious work with partners in the field of technology and innovation on the global stage."
He continued, "Our efforts to enhance the UAE passport confirm the tangible results of our country's multilateral approach and positive international and diplomatic relations based on the values of equality, tolerance and mutual respect. It affirms the position of the UAE as a country that serves the common interests of society."
Lutfi concluded his statement by saying: "While we celebrate the golden jubilee of the UAE and think about the outstanding achievements of the country, we encourage our citizens residing inside the country or abroad to share the filter, interact and celebrate together, united. We look forward to the next five decades through the "50 projects", in a new round It is one of the national strategic projects that will pave the way for a new era of political, economic and social development."
