The Swedish Public Health Agency has divided Sweden into almost 6,000 smaller areas.

In six percent of those areas, 340, the vaccination rate is lower than 70 percent.

This is an improvement compared to earlier this autumn, when ten percent of the areas had not reached 70 percent vaccinated with at least one dose.

- As long as the proportion of vaccinated increases, you are heading in the right direction, then you can always do more.

But the regions are constantly trying to screw this up and adapt the efforts to the needs that exist locally, says Emma Spak, head of the health and medical care section at Sweden's Municipalities and Regions (SKR).

Not even half were vaccinated in some areas

The lowest are some of the areas in the districts Rinkeby in Stockholm, Rosengård in Malmö and Gårdsten in Gothenburg where not even half are vaccinated.

But there are also areas where the proportion of vaccinated increased sharply during the autumn, Tjärna meadows in Borlänge, for example, have gone from 49 to 67 percent vaccinated.

SVT's review shows that it is often socio-economically vulnerable areas that have the lowest proportion of vaccinated.

Among the areas that have a maximum of 70 percent vaccinated, for example, more than half are in areas that are on the police list of vulnerable.

- When you investigate this, there are still very many who are worried, you have questions and you need to get information from someone you trust and it is of course a very personnel-intensive job, says Emma Spak at SKR.

Targeted efforts must continue

SKR states in its latest monthly report on vaccination work that the efforts to reach the unvaccinated require a lot of resources per given dose.

But according to Emma Spak, there are no plans to reduce the targeted efforts, despite the fact that the rest of the vaccination work with the third dose for more groups has now entered a new phase.
