There were 1282 criminal suspects, 137 criminal gangs were destroyed, 368 illegal sand mining and transporting ships were seized, more than 7.1 million tons of sand were involved in the case, and the amount involved was 330 million yuan (RMB, the same below).

  At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Public Security deployed 10 provinces (municipalities) along the Yangtze River and the Yangtze River Shipping Public Security Bureau to carry out a one-year special operation against illegal sand mining on the Yangtze River.

In accordance with the unified deployment of the Ministry of Public Security, local public security agencies continued to promote special operations, cracked a number of major cases, eliminated a number of criminal gangs, effectively curbed illegal and criminal activities of illegal sand mining in the Yangtze River, and provided a solid guarantee for the protection of the Yangtze River. .

  On the 2nd, the Ministry of Public Security once again announced a batch of typical cases of cracking down on illegal sand mining in the Yangtze River.

The reporter combed and found that these 10 typical cases involved Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Sichuan and other provinces.

The criminal team's illegal mining of river sand, pebbles, and gravel ranges from more than 3,800 tons to more than 830,000 tons, and the amount involved ranges from more than 280,000 yuan to more than 26 million yuan.

  Take the case of Chou and others in Nantong, Jiangsu using the "three noes" modification of the illegal sand mining case as an example. In July 2021, the Nantong Branch of the Yangtze River Shipping Public Security Bureau succeeded in destroying an entrenched in Rugao, Jiangsu based on clues reported by the masses. The illegal sand mining criminal gang in the Tongyang River waters arrested 24 suspects at the scene and seized one "three nos" modified sand mining ship and 6 transport ships.

According to investigations, since May 2021, the criminal suspects Qiu, Zhang, Chen and others have jointly invested in the purchase of the "three noes" sand mining vessel for modification, and hired personnel to mine sand illegally, and use sand to transport sand after stealing river sand. The ship transported the river sand to Rugao Shizhuang and other wharves for barge sales. At present, more than 60,000 tons of river sand have been investigated and the amount involved is more than 2 million yuan.

  Previously, the Ministry of Public Security has stated that the current illegal sand mining activities in the Yangtze River present new trends and characteristics: illegal mining tools are more concealed, criminal acts are worse, gangs are more tightly organized, and most of them are concentrated in the waters between provinces and cities.
