The churches and dioceses in Hesse have not yet planned any general cancellations for Advent and Christmas services.

"As things stand, church services are planned for Advent and Christmas in accordance with the regular plans," said a spokesman for the Limburg diocese.

"There is no consideration, as at the time of the lockdown, to switch exclusively to virtual broadcasting of worship services." Also, there are no known parishes to cancel the offer of worship services, the spokesman explained.

"Against the background of the special importance of Advent and Christmas, we generally strive to enable as many people as possible to attend a church service," said a spokesman for the diocese of Fulda.

"Of course, we always do this in compliance with the respective pandemic situation and the currently applicable hygiene rules."

"In view of the increasing number of infections in the corona pandemic, the Evangelical Church in Hesse-Nassau (EKHN) recommends its parishes to apply 2G and 3G rules nationwide in all church services," said a spokesman.

In addition, medical masks should be worn and safety distances should be observed in churches.

The Evangelical Church Kurhessen-Waldeck (EKKW) particularly recommends celebrating church services outside and using at least the 3G rule, said a spokeswoman.

In general, a mask is always required.

Church services under 2G or 2G plus rules are also possible.

“Unvaccinated people exclude themselves from analogue church services in the interior.

They are not excluded from all other divine service formats, ”said Prelate Bernd Böttner.
