ERC Gabriel Rufián unleashes a campaign against a journalist from EL MUNDO for a report on the 'procés' prisoners
The PSOE and its parliamentary partners, through their respective communication teams, have registered a letter addressed to the
General Secretariat
of the Congress of Deputies demanding that the Chamber "take measures to restore the proper functioning of the press conferences without putting in risk the freedom of information and the good climate that has always existed ".
The demand of PSOE, ERC, Unidas Podemos, PNV, Bildu, JxCat, PDeCAT, Más País-Equo, CUP, Compromís, BNG and Nueva Canarias argue their "concern" at the "intolerable lack of respect" towards the representatives of some groups parliamentarians by "accredited people in the press room" who "break the climate of cordiality and decorum between journalists and staff of political groups."
With this claim, they refer to the questions and interpellations that media such as
State of Alarm
or
7NN send
to the spokespersons, preferably from the left, in the parliamentary sphere and that, almost invariably, they are answered with the argument that they are "bubbles of the extreme right "in which they do not want to participate.
In the opinion of the groups that signed the letter, the aforementioned media exhibited a behavior that "distorts the press conferences and creates a climate of tension that hinders the work of the rest of the journalists who carry out their work with professionalism."
And to this they add: "What should be current parliamentary appearances are turning into ideological confrontations."
Accreditations
This situation, in the opinion of the signatories, translates into "intolerable disrespect towards the staff of some parliamentary groups that breaks the climate of cordiality and decorum between journalists, politicians and group personnel."
In this sense, the PSOE and its allies assure that this situation "does not correspond to the code of ethics or to the principles of action agreed by the professionals in the field."
For this reason, the press services of the forces that sign this declaration urge the Chamber to "take measures with the objective of restoring the proper functioning of the press conferences in Congress, without jeopardizing freedom of information and the good weather in the press room. "
Sources close to the General Secretariat of Congress warn that it is not possible to deny accreditation to people who confirm their membership in the media.
