On Wednesday, December 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin opened the GES-2 cultural center on Moscow's Bolotnaya embankment. The excursion for the head of state was conducted by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin and the main investor of the project Leonid Mikhelson. The new cultural space is located in a building that was built in 1907, then it housed a power plant. According to the mayor, during the restoration, the historical metal structures of the bearing forms and columns were preserved. “The restoration of HPP-2 has become the world's largest project of adapting an industrial facility to the cultural space of recent years,” stressed Sobyanin.
