Ajan Mohammed was the one who started the night hikes in Tensta in 2013. Two years later, the mothers in Rinkeby also joined.

At five to twelve on Wednesday, the night walkers received a prize for their work and it was happy and proud mothers who received flowers and diplomas in the Riksdag.

- We feel appreciated and we hope that the night hikes spread to other parts of Stockholm, says Ajan Mohammed from Tensta.

Wants to prevent violence

The goal of the night walks is to try to prevent violence and spread calm among the young people in Järva.

- We have lost many young people in recent years, says Nasteha Ali who walks at night in Rinkeby.

After the murder of 19-year-old Nils Grönberg, known as the rap artist Einár, several parents from the Järva area went to Hammarby Sjöstad to show their support.

This led to joint night walks in Tensta and Rinkeby where both parents from Södermalm and Järva participated.

- Now it feels like we are a people and that we belong to the same society.

It feels great, says Ardo Warsami from Rinkeby.
