For the first time in 25 years, the Bundeswehr began to introduce new ranks in the troops on Wednesday. As the Ministry of Defense announced, four soldiers from the Army, Air Force and Navy were promoted to corporals in the logistics battalion 171 in Burg as part of a solemn roll call. By April next year it should be 1,400. The new ranks of corporal and staff corporal are related to efforts by the Bundeswehr to make the career of the teams more attractive. You get more money - with the corporal it should be 51 euros gross. In addition, they take up a rank designation that is common in many other armies and was also used at times in earlier German armies. Unlike there, however, the corporals are not part of the career of NCOs.Instead, they now mark the top ranks of the teams in the Bundeswehr.

Corporals and staff corporals, like the rest of the crew ranks, cannot declare themselves superiors in an emergency - only NCOs and officers have this authority.

But with their appointment, they should become visible as soldiers with particularly demanding tasks.

This includes, for example, uses as repairers, for example for combat aircraft, but also experienced staff workers or infantrymen who are deployed as group leaders.

The last rank introduced in 1996 was the corporal corporal.

He was the top rank among the teams to this day.
