Mohammed bin Rashid's message on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's union
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, sent a message on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Union, the text of which follows:
Dear brothers and sisters:
Fifty years ago we had a dream.. the dream of building a state.. one house.. a united people.. a homeland for all.. a state that competes with the best countries in the world.
What seemed at the time a difficult dream to achieve, today it embodies a fortified, safe and impregnable homeland.
What was the project of a state that many did not bet on its survival and development, today it is a change-maker, moving towards the future with greater steadfastness and greater faith than ever before, based on the legacy of five decades of achievements dug into the rocks of history.
Dear brothers and sisters:
On the 50th anniversary of the establishment of our union, we recall the ambitious beginnings, the dreams that seemed greater than us, the great tasks and responsibilities that exceeded our capabilities and capabilities, the huge reconstruction and development projects that were awaiting us and that exceeded our resources, and the greater task of building a state based on the vision of our fathers.
But whatever the challenges and obstacles, nothing has been able to discourage us, break our will, or defeat our dreams.
At a time when unity projects were broken on the ground, our unitary project has become a living embodiment of the culture of the impossible that guides our plans, policies, thought and work.
Many ask: What is the secret of the Emirati "recipe for success"?

How did we succeed where others failed?
I tell you briefly: Our union is based on giving priority to the public interest, not the individual interest, where there is no place for selfishness, personal calculations, and factional interests.
And if it is a major component of the magical chemical equation of the Emirates, it is the Emirati human, the origin of our most precious country, and his most enduring wealth. The life of the citizen is an extension of the life of the nation.
Dear brothers and sisters:
Last September, we announced the Fifty Principles Document, which are 10 principles directed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, that define the strategic and development path of the UAE for the next 50 years. These 10 guiding principles constitute a basic reference for all state institutions to advance our economic, social and cultural system, and focus on development priorities in the next stage, foremost of which is our sustainable economy, mobilizing efforts and harnessing all resources to strengthen the foundations of the union and achieve prosperity, stability and community peace.
If we go back 50 years, specifically on Thursday, December 2, 1971, we will find the echo of the fiftieth principles document in the first historical document that defined the vision of the union through the historical statement issued by the founding fathers.
The document of the declaration of the union is the founding document... and the document of fiftieth principles is the document of consolidation.
The document of the declaration of the union paved the first way in the journey of building the United Arab Emirates, and the document of the fiftieth principles paves the way for the future in the journey of empowering the United Arab Emirates.
Dear brothers and sisters:
On December 2, 2021, the United Arab Emirates will enter a new turning point in the process of its construction and renaissance.
The march of the next 50 years, which will be more challenging and more ambitious, will require creative thought, a different approach, double work, exceptional efforts and momentum in projects and initiatives.
It is not enough to work, we have to innovate and innovate.
It is not enough to build, we have to develop.
It is not enough to be the first, we have to be the example and the model.
It is not enough to live up to expectations, we have to exceed all expectations.
Dear brothers and sisters:
Everyone on this good earth is invited to share with us the journey of the next 50 years;
Women and men, young women and men, citizens and residents for whom the UAE has become a second home.
Everyone has in front of them a wide space for giving and creativity, and contributing, each from his position, to the largest development project called the Emirates of the Next 50 Years;
Where there is no limit to imagination, and no ceiling to ambitions.
The journey of the fiftieth year started with acceleration..and everyone will be with us..participate in creating the future they want.
All ideas, dreams and projects, no matter how big and no matter how great, can be realized.
And as far as our dreams come our accomplishments.
Every year and the Emirates, the leadership and people, are fine.. Every year, our achievement is greater and our giving is more.. And the future is better and more beautiful, God willing.
