Forty-eight hours after the tragedy, the mystery remains unsolved.

On Monday morning, the lifeless bodies of twins barely six months old were discovered at their parents' home in Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine).

Alerted by the mother, the emergency services could do nothing to save the two infants.

An investigation was immediately opened to determine the causes of death which remain unknown for the time being.

Monday in the day, the bodies of the children were transferred to the South hospital in Rennes for examinations before a forensic autopsy was performed.

Investigators will now have to wait.

"The full results of the autopsies and analyzes that were requested will only be known in several weeks," said Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennes, contacted by
