Both Wilma Björkman and Edvin Nilsson have a background as vassal race officials.

Now they will take on the task of being crowned and crowned during Vasaloppet's 100th anniversary year 2022.

My mother was crowned in 1993

During her upbringing, 20-year-old Wilma Björkman from Mora has trained in all of IFK Mora's sports clubs and has been active in the athletics club as well as the football club, alpine club, gymnastics club, orienteering club and ski club.

Wilma's mother Helena Gezelius-Björkman has been Vasloppet's crown ball in 1993.

- First I was shocked when they called and I got the question.

But then very happy.

It was not something I expected, but of course it has always been a bit of an underlying dream, says Wilma Björkman.

Goal to compete in the 2026 Olympics

Edvin Nilsson from Sälen is 22 years old.

He has trained and competed in alpine skiing for Sälens IF Alpina since he was little and his goal is to compete in the 2026 Olympics and to win the Alpine World Cup in slalom.

- I was surprised when I got the question but it will be great fun to represent Sälen and the village as a wreath.

It is definitely a bit of an honor, says Edvin Nilsson.

Wilma Björkman and Edvin Nilsson will not only hand out the victory wreaths to the winners of the Vasaloppet and Tjejvasan during Vasaloppet's winter week 2022. They will also be presenting the winner in the Jubileumsvasan, where the participants travel the 90 kilometers from Sälen to Mora in equipment from 1922.
