Syria thwarts a drug shipment on its way to Saudi Arabia

Security authorities in Syria announced today the seizure of large quantities of narcotic pills that were hidden in a shipment of foodstuffs, which were on their way to be exported to Saudi Arabia.

A source in the competent authorities indicated to the official news agency "SANA" that a truck was stopped in the countryside of Damascus and it was found that it was carrying bags of "Captagon" narcotic pills within a shipment of pasta that was intended for export to Saudi Arabia, weighing 170 grams per bag, and a total weight of approximately 525 kilograms. .

The source pointed out that pepper was sprayed to mislead the devices and dogs trained in detecting narcotic substances, indicating that the materials were confiscated, while investigations are still ongoing with the arrested to reveal all those involved in the case and take the necessary measures against them.

Over the past months, the Syrian authorities have repeatedly announced the confiscation of shipments of Captagon pills, the latest of which, on the 24th of this month, included 525 kilograms also hidden in pasta bags.
