A 46-year-old man was tried on Monday by the Niort Criminal Court (Deux-Sèvres) in immediate appearance.

He was accused of violence against his partner and her sister in Thouars (Deux-Sèvres).

The defendant stabbed his girlfriend twice before punching his other victim, reports

He was sentenced to 24 months in prison, 18 of which were closed.

"36 mentions for 33 convictions" appear in the criminal record of the accused, noted the president of the court.

The facts took place this Saturday evening at the home of the sister, where the defendant had been accommodated for three days.

The 40-year-old's companion suffered only superficial wounds despite the 13 centimeters long of the knife blade.

Highly alcoholic at the time of the assault, the perpetrator claimed to have no memory of the violence.

The court pronounced his immediate imprisonment.
