Oxford University: There is no evidence that vaccines are ineffective against the Omicron mutant

The University of Oxford is evaluating the implications of the emergence of an omicron mutant on immunity provided by vaccines against the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19), a university spokesperson said.

And Bloomberg News quoted the university as saying: “Despite the emergence of new mutated strains over the past year, vaccines have continued to offer high levels of protection against serious diseases and there is no evidence that Omicron is different from them.”

Oxford added that it has the tools and working methods in place for the rapid development of a modified vaccine against COVID-19 if this becomes necessary.
