The Social Democrats' proposal did not go through.

This means that the detailed planning work for Österskans continues.

- It is qualified insanity in fact, there was a proposal that we had put forward to cancel these hotel plans and cancel the referendum, but instead they voted down our proposal and voted to postpone the referendum instead, says Stefan Pålsson (S).

At an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, the municipal board decided to postpone the referendum to the general elections in 2022. The decision means that the Sweden Democrats' line won.

SD has previously expressed that they are against the plans for a hotel in the area.

- We demanded the rejection of the current proposal for a hotel, it is important to bring.

We want to move the vote to that election in 2022 instead, to get a better democratic process where everyone can speak and have their say, says Fabio Ishaq (SD).

The alliance followed SD's line

The alliance parties voted in favor of the Sweden Democrats' proposal in the vote at the municipal board meeting.

The outcome is the chairman of the municipal board, Jonas Bergman (M), satisfied with.

- We would like to have this referendum and complete this plan which is already delayed.

The alternative here was to throw away six years of preparation, he says.

Jonas Bergman (M) does not see the fact that the vote ends up in connection with the general election as a problem.

- From my party's side, we thought from the beginning that the vote should be held on election day, so that more people take a stand on the issue, plus it will be cheaper, he says.
