After the Social Democrats' party congress in Gothenburg, Tomas Eneroth (S) was accused of taking a female colleague by the ass.
The incident must have occurred in a hotel room before the closing party on 6 November.
Last week, a police report was received against the Minister of Infrastructure, and on Tuesday, Chief Prosecutor Maria Sterup chose to initiate a preliminary investigation into sexual harassment.
- I initiate a preliminary investigation to be able to gather additional material and information in order to assess whether what has happened may be a matter of crime, says Maria Sterup in a press release.
Just minutes earlier, Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson presented the ministers in the new government, where Eneroth gained continued confidence in the post of infrastructure minister.
Tomas Eneroth has previously submitted a written comment to SVT Nyheter about the incident.
Eneroth himself says that he greeted the female party colleague and stroked her back and ass, but that the inappropriate touch took place unintentionally.
"I apologize, explaining that it was not my intention.
I really regret if I exposed a person to discomfort ", Eneroth wrote to SVT after a report was made.
