On November 28, local time, Czech President Zeman appointed Peter Fiala, the chairman of the Civil Democratic Party, as the prime minister of the new government at his residence in Rani Castle.

The appointment ceremony was originally scheduled to be held on November 26, but because Zeman tested positive for the new crown virus on the 25th, the president’s office had to postpone the ceremony.

Since Zeman is still in isolation, special arrangements have been made for the appointment ceremony.

Zeman and Fiala are separated by a transparent glass wall, and they talk through microphones, but do not make direct contact.

Zeman was hospitalized for more than 6 weeks due to illness and was discharged on November 25. However, a few hours later, the President’s Office stated that Zeman was diagnosed with the new crown virus and was sent back to the hospital overnight.

In early October, the "Together" political party alliance composed of the Civic Democratic Party, the Christian Democratic Union-Czechoslovak People's Party and the "Tradition, Responsibility, and Prosperity" party won the election for the House of Representatives of the Czech Parliament by a narrow margin.

Subsequently, the "Together" political party alliance and the Pirate Party/Mayor Alliance signed a memorandum, and the two parties intend to form a new majority coalition government.
