"Although I was born and raised abroad, the first language I learned was Chinese." Wang Tianyou, a young Chinese American, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency.

In the environment where Wang Tianyou grew up, there were not many people who could speak Chinese. The ability to speak fluent Chinese in his mother tongue depended on the persistence of Wang Tianyou's parents.

"They don't want me to lose my Chinese language ability. They not only insist on communicating in Chinese at home, but also send me to a Chinese school to learn Chinese and Chinese culture."

"Father attaches great importance to the inheritance of Chinese culture in descendants of Chinese descent." Wang Tianyou recalled that he learned martial arts from local overseas Chinese in his childhood. After his father and local overseas Chinese co-founded the US-China Experimental School, he spent his youth in this Chinese school. Most of my spare time.

"The school will arrange for students to interact with high-level martial arts players from China. This is a very special learning opportunity." Talking about the experience of learning martial arts, Wang Tianyou said that through practicing Chinese Kung Fu, he has a concrete experience of Chinese culture.

"Traditional Chinese Kungfu emphasizes self-study. Compared with the popular forms of confrontational fighting abroad, it can not only strengthen the body, but also cultivate morality."

Wang Tianyou introduced that although traditional Chinese martial arts belong to niche sports abroad, it can still attract some foreigners to have a deeper interest in Chinese culture, and even travel far away to China to study.

"Some foreigners return to the United States to open a martial arts gym after they have completed their studies in China, and they will also recruit many Chinese students. This makes me feel the strong vitality of Chinese culture."

In addition to learning Chinese and martial arts, Wang Tianyou's father also encouraged him to participate in the "Root-seeking Journey in China" during the summer vacation, hoping that he could feel the speed of China's social development while integrating into the real Chinese language environment.

Wang Tianyou said frankly that, like most foreigners who do not know China, he was not impressed with most Chinese cities before coming to China.

"Hong Kong is an exception." Wang Tianyou said that the popularity of Hong Kong movies has left in his mind the impression of a Hong Kong city that "preserves tradition and leads the trend".

"Until the first time I came to Shanghai, I found that the level of urban development in Shanghai was comparable to that of Hong Kong." Wang Tianyou added, "China's urbanization process is a great story. When I introduced China's second-tier cities to foreign friends When Quanzhou has a population of over 8 million, they are very surprised."

The habit of "running at both ends" continued after work and became an opportunity for Wang Tianyou to stay in China to start his own business.

As he learned more about the Chinese social environment, he chose to cooperate with like-minded friends to start a business in China.

"My family is in China, and I have lived in a Chinese cultural environment since I was a child." Wang Tianyou believes that his decision to develop in China is like "green leaves' affection for roots."

"I hope to use the experience and knowledge accumulated abroad to contribute to China's social development." (End)
