US Commerce Secretary Gina Lamondo urged the US Congress to deal with the semiconductor support bill, referring to cases of South Korea and China.

The Washington Post reported on the 29th local time that Secretary Lamondo met with reporters before giving a speech on the semiconductor shortage in Detroit, Michigan.

"China, South Korea and other countries are already generously subsidizing semiconductor manufacturing," he said.

The bill that Minister Ramondo said is the US Innovation Competition Act, which includes a total of $250 billion in support for semiconductors, 5G, artificial intelligence, and quantum science, and 298 trillion won in Korean money.

The bill passed the Senate in June, but has yet to cross the House of Representatives.

Mr. Ramondo's remarks came as he emphasized the need for the bill to be addressed in order to achieve the goal of disseminating electric vehicles set by the Joe Biden administration.
