To the rhythm of loud drums, and the singing of the “Queen of Soul”, Germany celebrated its National Day at “Expo 2020 Dubai”, yesterday, by presenting artistic performances in Al Wasl Square, after the flag-raising ceremony, which included a children’s choir that included students from German schools in the UAE , and featured participation from singer Joey Denalan.

As part of the celebrations, a German parade from the popular "Rot Fenghen" band marched to the beat of loud drums on Ghaf Street inside the "Expo 2020".

The German Pavilion hosted several activities, including a children's choir, and a visit to a traditional German confectioner, to present a live show in front of visitors.

German Ambassador to the UAE, Ernst Peter Fischer, said: "I congratulate the UAE for organizing this truly wonderful edition of the Expo.

As we celebrate the golden jubilee of the UAE, I would like to express my admiration for everything that has been achieved during the past 50 years, and my greatest admiration for the noble and ambitious goals you have set for the next 50 years.”

Ernst Peter Fischer added: “Everyone who visits (Expo 2020) can immediately feel that we live in a connected world, and that in order to succeed in meeting the challenges, we must work and participate together.

For his part, the Executive Director of the Office of the Commissioner-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, said, “Taking the (Germany Forum) as a slogan for the German Pavilion, whose design is inspired by the idea of ​​the university campus, is a topic that resonates well with all of us, as education is a topic that pushes us to seek A better life, as visitors to the German Pavilion will navigate the curriculum that will take them through topics related to energy, the city of the future and biodiversity.

German schoolchildren in the UAE presented a choir specially formed for the occasion, accompanied by singer and songwriter, Joy Denalan, who performed as "Queen of Soul in Germany", known for her blending of the original spirit of German folk music with African and other genres on stage.
