Traveling in Guadeloupe in social crisis for several weeks, the Minister of Overseas Territories, Sébastien Lecornu, only met very briefly part of the inter-union on Monday.

As they wished to be seated at 30 at the negotiating table

REPORTING

Discussions barely stopped: the Minister for Overseas Sébastien Lecornu only briefly met on Monday the inter-union in Guadeloupe, shaken by a violent social crisis like neighboring Martinique where he must continue his mission on Tuesday.

Accompanied in music by dozens of activists to the gates of the sub-prefecture guarded by many mobile gendarmes, four representatives of the intersyndicale asked the minister to be able to come and negotiate at 30 with a very wide list of demands ranging from l 'cancellation of the health obligation, through the massive hiring of young people.

"He did not come to negotiate"

But as Sébastien Lecornu had already warned, there was no question of receiving so many people.

And the Minister of Overseas Territories did not give in.

So when leaving the sub-prefecture, Maïté Hubert-M'Toumo, of the UGTG, the General Union of Workers of Guadeloupe, does not hide his anger at the microphone of Europe 1. "Contrary to what he tries to make people believe, he [Sébastien Lecornu] did not come to negotiate. With the balance of power that we managed to put in place, he finally came to Guadeloupe, but not to negotiate. "

And to continue: "We call for strengthening the popular picket lines, to strengthen the picket lines in companies, to strengthen the mobilization to the end. And when he is ready, when he really wants to negotiate with us, we are the."

As a reminder, the demonstrators want in particular "the end of the suspensions of personnel and liberal professions" unvaccinated, the "suspension of convictions of people for violence", and an "emergency plan for the qualification of young people and the conditions work of Guadeloupe families ".

"The laws of the Republic are intended to apply" in the Antilles

For his part, Sébastien Lecornu reiterated that the vaccine obligation, postponed to December 31, would not be lifted, because "the laws of the Republic are intended to apply" in the French West Indies.

The Overseas Minister also said he was "more than shocked" by the demand for the release of those convicted of violence, after several days of very strong tensions.

He also added that most of the demands of the inter-union depend on local communities.

Local elected officials that he must receive to ask them to take their share of responsibility in the resolution of this crisis.
