Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center announces its readiness to implement multiple sclerosis treatment

The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center announced its readiness to implement an internationally approved treatment for multiple sclerosis, which depends on stem cell transplantation.

The center explained that the treatment will be within the Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Program (AD-BMT), which was launched during July 2020.

The Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Program is the first stem cell transplant program in the UAE, which successfully treated 10 patients who were suffering from hematological malignancies such as lymphoma, leukemia and multiple myeloma.

The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center confirmed that the Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Program was able to expand its scope and start treating autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis.

This announcement follows a series of multiple successes achieved by the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center (ADSCC) in the past two years, including the development of an innovative treatment for COVID-19 (UAE Cell19), which has shown excellent, safe and effective results in treating nearly 13,000 patients along with the trial. The first of its kind to produce “CAR-T” programmed immune cells and the first “photopheresis” program in the country.
