This Sunday morning, the Pas-de-Calais department was placed on orange vigilance for “flooding”, Météo-France said.

Several rivers are currently in flood.

Since the night of Saturday to Sunday, "significant rainfall has fallen on Hauts-de-France and should last until early Sunday afternoon," reported the Vigicrues site.

"Significant flooding is possible"

In Pas-de-Calais, “the Lys upstream and Lawe-Clarence rivers”, tributaries of the Scheldt, “have started to react to this precipitation and localized overflows are observed in these sectors”.

"The levels of these rivers should continue to rise this afternoon and significant overflows could occur on these sections," warned Vigicrues.

Under these conditions, “significant flooding is possible” which could affect traffic conditions, the electricity supply or submerge the dikes, recalls the site.
