Mohammed bin Rashid directs to continue developing the performance of the media sector
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, directed to continue working to develop the performance of the media system in the Emirate of Dubai and within its various institutions in order to keep pace with the strong development movement witnessed by the emirate and the general emirates in various sectors. This came during a meeting with His Highness, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, members of the Dubai Media Council, on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the Arab Press Award, which was held this evening in Al Wasl Square at Expo 2020 Dubai, as part of His Highness’s keenness to meet with media leaders and learn about the steps being taken to ensure the media the highest levels of efficiency and competitiveness according to the best standards and global practices.
His Highness said: "We value the role of the media and want it always at the forefront to discuss, analyze and inform people of the facts. The UAE today is racing against time in the field of progress and the media must be at the same speed in developing its capabilities and upgrading its performance.. New technologies have given the media tools that have accelerated its performance.. But Modernization should not be at the expense of the profession’s values and principles.. Our local media’s adherence to the principles makes it all appreciated for being objective in its presentation, fair in its positions and beneficial in its content.. The strength of the media and the extent of its impact are measured by its ability to make a tangible positive impact on people’s lives.
His Highness added: "Media institutions today are betting on technology to win the audience and expand the circle of spread.. But it is also necessary to have a human cadre capable of adapting it in the right way to serve the work..and I expect from our media institutions initiatives and programs to prepare national media cadres that possess the tools of media proficiency by future standards." .
His Highness praised the national roles played by the local media in various situations and occasions, especially during the past two years, as Dubai media, as well as the UAE media in general, showed high efficiency in preparing coverage that accompanied the huge efforts that included all sectors in the face of the challenge that the world is still suffering from its consequences. And the media’s broadcast of positive messages about the qualitative achievements through which the state was able to overcome this exceptional stage, and accelerate the return of life to normal within a record time.
During the meeting, which was attended by His Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was briefed on the council’s overall work and strategy based on a careful assessment of the capabilities of the media system in Dubai and the extent of its response to the changes taking place in the field of communication globally. Technical options that provide its various institutions with the desired space for interaction with a wider circle of recipients and followers.
His Highness was also acquainted with the broad features of the development plans that the Council intends to implement during the next phase, in accordance with His Highness' vision to bring the performance of Dubai media to the desired levels of quality in form and content, in order to ensure the retention of followers and establish their confidence in the content provided that observes the highest international standards.
