The number of young people seeking care for mental illness is 25 percent higher this year compared with the previous year and approximately 20 percent more are received in special psychiatry for children, BUP.

What the increase is due to cannot be determined yet, but one factor may be the pandemic.

- It has been home studies, the regular networks have looked different and leisure activities have had to be canceled, which may be a factor in the increased mental illness, says operations manager Malin Creutz to SVT.

More applicants than capacity

There are more people seeking care than there is capacity for and there are queues for both child and adolescent health.

- The base is too small for what the need looks like right now.

But the positive thing is that our politicians have a great interest in meeting up and highlighting the mental illness in the county, which can hopefully lead to measures, says Malin Creutz.
