“In accordance with the law, the day of silence begins to operate exactly one day before the start of the elections, that is, on Saturday from 8 am.

It will last 24 hours until the polling stations open, ”a representative of the Central Election Commission for Elections and Referendums (CEC) in the republic told TASS.

During this period, campaigning for candidates and parties in any form is prohibited in the country.

At the same time, the ban does not apply to previously placed banners, posters and leaflets, but they must be kept away from polling stations.

The elections will be held on a mixed system for the first time since 2005: 54 deputies will be elected according to party lists, 36 more - in single-mandate constituencies.

A total of about 1.3 thousand people apply for a seat in parliament.

Earlier, Kyrgyzstan’s special services prevented a coup attempt.

According to Damir Suvanaliev, senior investigator for especially important cases of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan, the country's special services suspect three candidates for deputy in preparation for the seizure of power.
