European Parliament member Peter Lundgren was recently sentenced in the Göta Court of Appeal to a 60-day fine of SEK 1,000 for sexual harassment after he took a female party comrade to the breast.

In its judgment, the Court of Appeal writes:

“Touching a woman's breasts in the way that Peter Lundgren has done is an act that is typically apt to violate the sexual integrity of the victim.

The circumstances at the time were not such as to give rise to any other assessment. "

The tone has sharpened

Central to the party, the tone towards Peter Lundgren has gradually sharpened.

In a statement shortly after the verdict, the party secretary Richard Jomshof wrote that "both Peter Lundgren and the plaintiff have rectified the situation among themselves and are on good terms with each other" and that for the party, "the matter is already settled".

On Friday, Jimmie Åkesson was asked by Swedish Radio if Lundgren could continue in the party in a legally binding verdict.

- I see that it will be very difficult of course, which I have also presented to Peter Lundgren himself.

For an internal discussion

Peter Lundgren is not present at the national days in Karlstad.

The rapporteur on the EU issue, MEP Charlie Weimers, highlighted in the rostrum several of Lundgren's successes in Brussels.

But when SVT interviewed Jimmie Åkesson after his speech on Saturday, there was still a sharpened tone against Lundgren.

- We are waiting for this verdict to gain legal force and we do not really know when it will, it depends on whether he chooses to appeal or not.

So I will take up that question for the time being, but it is clear that we are having an internal discussion about what it means if this judgment gains legal force.

But if it does?

- I have told Peter Lundgren that it will be very difficult to represent the Sweden Democrats and I feel that he understands that, says Jimmie Åkesson.
