November 26, 2021 In these hours our country has been hit by a strong disturbance fed by air of polar origin and pushed by intense southwestern winds. The cold air at high altitudes allowed snowfalls at hilly altitudes on the reliefs of Liguria and southwestern Piedmont. Experts warn that in the coming days the polar air will gradually become more incisive in all regions, thus plunging Italy into an important winter episode.

If today the bad weather continues to rage on Sardinia, Tuscany, Lazio and Campania, it will not be outdone even on the weekend. Both tomorrow and Sunday the same regions will always be bombarded by rains and even heavy thunderstorms. Storms are expected on the coasts of Campania, but also on the Tyrrhenian coast. The most important news, however, will be the snow. In addition to descending into the valley in the Alps, the white flakes will reach hilly altitudes (5-700m) over Tuscany, Sardinia, Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise on Sunday. In this general context, temperatures will also suffer a general collapse both day and night. Already from Sunday below zero values can be reached on the plains of the Northwest, but next week also on the rest of the North and on Tuscany, Umbria and inland areas of Lazio.

First snowfalls on the mountains of Sardinia

First snowfalls on the mountains of Sardinia, particularly in the Nuorese area. The peaks around Fonni, the highest town on the island, are completely whitewashed. No problem for traffic, however, at least at the moment, according to what is learned from the police. A stiffening

of temperatures is expected over the weekend and therefore more snowfalls, especially on the Gennargentu. The sharp drop in the thermometer column triggered the regional civil protection machine which was activated according to the requirements of the Snow Plan.

In particular, two trucks equipped with a snow plow module were assigned to the Municipalities of Desulo and Fonni, a Ford Ranger to the Municipality of Villagrande Strisali and a Land Rover to the Municipality of Ollolai. These vehicles are flanked by seventeen Land Rover 110s, equipped with a snow plow and salt spreader module, entrusted on loan for use by the regional civil protection to voluntary organizations operating in regional areas where the 'snow risk' is highest.

It also snows in Trentino

After the first flakes of last night that whitened Folgaria, Trentino promises to be a weekend of snow. 'Meteo Trentino' forecasts snow as early as this morning above 1,200 meters, in lower altitudes from tonight. Tomorrow instead snow between 500 and 800 meters: Sunday temperatures plummeting due to the arrival of a vortex of cold air.

Calabria, schools closed in Roccabernarda

Discomfort also in Calabria. Due to the heavy rains, the municipal administration of Roccabernarda, in the province of Crotone, announced on the Facebook profile that "All schools will be closed due to the bad weather this night". "The structures will have to be assessed - it says - and understand if they have suffered apparent damage or not. We are also doing a reconnaissance tour through the streets of the town to understand the damage suffered to municipal properties and our citizens".

Torre del Greco, evacuated 8 apartments in a building

Tonight the carabinieri of the Torre del Greco company intervened in Viale Europa where 8 apartments of a building were evacuated.

14 people were forced to leave their homes.

The building, thanks to the collaboration of firefighters, municipal police and technical staff of the Municipality, was deemed unusable due to damage to a water pipe that flooded the basements.

The causes most likely related to bad weather.

Pending checks on the stability of the building, all the houses have been evacuated.

No one injured.
