November 26, 2021 "Throughout the day we focused on the new variant, which was only announced by the South African government on November 11 and which has over 30 mutations of the Spike protein and therefore must be taken with great attention." Health Minister Roberto Speranza told "Zapping" on Rai Radio 1. "We still do not have elements of certainty to arrive at an analysis result - explained the minister - but it is clear that the international organizations, the WHO and the EU, have rightly chosen a line of maximum prudence".

"It would be irresponsible not to be worried, we are in a difficult phase of managing the pandemic and the numbers in Europe are in full swing: Italy records lower numbers but we must be cautious, with our feet on the ground, new infections are growing and the Rt index is greater than 1 ". In "Zapping" the minister thus answers a question about the new Omicron variant.

"We are still in an authorization process, but my recommendation is to rely on our pediatricians, who are of the highest quality and who know our children better than others", said Speranza to a question about the Covid vaccine for under 12. "It's a delicate topic, let's not get an idea on social networks or at the bar - continues the minister - let's rely on those who have dedicated their lives to the little ones. The position of the Italian Society of Pediatrics is clear".
