The court in Quimper (Finistère) on Thursday sentenced a 72-year-old man for incestuous sexual assault on a minor.

The septuagenarian was prosecuted for having subjected the niece of his ex-wife to sexual touching, reports

The facts took place in 2002, when the victim was 14 years old.

The latter was staying with her aunt and her partner when the assault occurred.

During the hearing, which took place previously, the defendant denied the facts en bloc.

He accused the complainant, now 33, of lying.

Conditional prison

The court ultimately found him guilty.

The septuagenarian received a three-month suspended sentence.

His name will be entered in the automated judicial file of perpetrators of sexual or violent offenses (Fijais).

He was also ordered to pay compensation of 3,000 euros to his victim.
