The Dubai Health Authority reported that the "My Blood for My Country" campaign will carry out a blood donation campaign at the Expo 2020 Dubai headquarters, next Monday, and has allocated a special stamp for the campaign that donors can obtain on their Expo passports.

The Director of the Department of Laboratories and Genetics at the authority, Dr. Hussein Al-Samt, told "Emirates Today" that the campaign allocated a blood donation bus equipped with highly qualified medical staff and advanced medical equipment to receive donors from visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai, the important global event.

He stated that the registration for the blood donation process is done through the Emirates ID, within a few seconds, and the donor also undergoes a quick medical examination to ensure his health and his ability to donate blood.

Al-Samt stated that the campaign has collected, since its launch last June, 18,000 new blood units, through the implementation of 458 various blood donation campaigns, which included governmental and private bodies, institutions and bodies, and witnessed a great turnout from employees and dealers, during which it collected a large number of blood units that were used. To save lives and treat the sick and injured.

Al-Samt pointed out that the campaign continues to implement external campaigns targeting governmental and private institutions, in addition to distributing mobile donation buses in different regions, with the aim of collecting the largest possible number of blood units and providing an adequate stock of blood of all types.

He explained that a single unit of blood collected can save the lives of three people, whose health condition requires a blood transfusion, calling on community members, citizens and residents, to participate in the campaign, to provide the largest amount of blood, to save lives.

The "My Blood for My Country" campaign is implemented in a strategic partnership and fruitful cooperation between "Emirates Today", the "Al-Amin" service, and the Dubai Health Authority.

The "My Blood for My Country" campaign was launched in its first session in 2012, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

His Highness was the first to donate blood at the moment of launching the campaign, which contributed to its success and encouraged community members to participate in it, especially after His Highness emphasized the importance of the initiative, saying that “blood donation is the best gift that a citizen and resident can give, as an expression of love for the homeland, especially that there is Sick and wounded need every drop of blood.”
