On November 24, local time, a demonstration took place in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.

On the afternoon of the 25th, Ms. Wu, a local Chinese doing business, told reporters that local Chinese shops were beaten, smashed, looted and burned by violent elements, causing serious property losses.

Ms. Wu said that after the violence occurred, the local police force was obviously insufficient, and some Chinese were organizing self-rescue.

Ms. Wu said that the violence is still continuing, and the local government has announced a curfew and personnel are not allowed to go out.

"These two days have been in panic," Ms. Wu said. Currently, she is taking refuge in relatives' homes and her safety is guaranteed.

The Chinese Embassy in the Solomon Islands also issued a notice on the 24th to remind Chinese citizens to strengthen safety precautions.

The embassy has immediately expressed its serious concerns to the government and the police and made representations, requesting the government to take all necessary measures to strengthen the protection of Chinese enterprises and personnel, and to safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens.
