This summer, Kalmar District Court sentenced the man and woman, who were previously a couple, to long prison sentences.

The man was sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison while the woman was sentenced to a prison term of 8 years and 6 months.

The man was convicted of 181 cases of aggravated rape of a child and a felony of child pornography and the woman of 14 cases of aggravated rape of a child.

Wanted shorter sentences

The judges were later appealed to the Göta Court of Appeal by both the man and the woman in the hope of a shorter prison sentence.

Prosecutor Linda Caneus also chose to appeal the woman's verdict.

- I believe that there is room for the Court of Appeal to sentence her to a longer prison sentence than what the district court decided.

In the district court, they admitted a majority of the charges

- It has been difficult for them to deny what we have seen on film, said the court's chairman Laila Kirppu in connection with the district court ruling.

The man denied the crimes where no pictures or videos were found for the diary entries that the prosecutor relied on as evidence.

Goes on the district court's line

Göta Court of Appeal mainly follows the district court's line and convicts the previous couple for the same crime that was convicted in the district court.

What changes in the Court of Appeal's ruling is that the woman is now sentenced to a longer prison term of nine years.

She must also pay higher damages to one of the children.

From SEK 125,000 to SEK 150,000.

SVT Nyheter Småland has been in contact with the convicts' lawyers Niklas Kappel and Michael Boberg, who refuse to comment.
