Britain cancels flights to six African countries due to new strain

“The UK Health Safety Agency is exploring a new option (COVID-19) ... as a precautionary measure from midnight, six African countries will be added to the red list for coronavirus, flights with them will be canceled, and the British will have to observe quarantine, "Javid said. 

At the same time, he noted that it is necessary to wait for more data on the new COVID-19 mutation.

Earlier, scientists have identified a new strain of coronavirus in Botswana, South Africa and Hong Kong, which could potentially become the most dangerous variant of the coronavirus.

It was named B.1.1.529 and has an “incredibly high” number of mutations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling an emergency meeting on Friday 26 November to discuss the COVID-19 strain.
