The Nilsson family from Boden had to fight for several years before they finally got the right help for their multi-sick son.

And with the results in hand, mother Carola Nilsson wishes that no other family should be forced to appeal and go through long legal processes.

She wants the municipality to make better decisions right from the start.

- It's been awful.

I wish that no one else, who is already having a hard time with a sick child, will have to suffer as we have done, says Carola Nilsson.

The boss: "Not unusual with rejection"

The municipality of Boden regrets that the family has had a difficult time and understands that it is difficult when you have a sick child.

At the same time, they believe that everything has gone right.

The municipality says that it is not unusual to first give a refusal and then change if, for example, the administrative court rules differently.

- It is a difficult legislation and I do not think Boden stands out.

We share this with the whole nation and if we have been wronged by the next instance, we will comply with it, says Kerstin Larsson, operations manager at the Individual and Family Care in Boden municipality.

She develops.

- We do not see it as a good or bad decision.

We see it as a review in law that we may be able to follow in the next similar case.

The family does not buy the explanation

But the Nilsson family does not buy that explanation.

- We have had medical certificates that prove Oskar's needs throughout the legal process.

At the same time, he has only gotten worse so I do not understand what the municipality wanted to try legally.

It just feels like they questioned the doctors' assessment and wanted to go into everything, says Carola Nilsson.

Dismisses that they did not take the family seriously

The head of operations adds that new rules and case law also played a role in the decisions regarding Oskar's family.

- The legislation is relatively young in my eyes and there are no precedents and judgments as in other legislation.

But I will also say, if you want to appeal, we can offer help with that as well, says Kerstin Larsson.

Is it a lack of time or poor knowledge when your decisions differ from the administrative court?

- Not in this case.

We have a high degree of continuity with the administrators who are very experienced.

I do not object to the fact that we should not take the family's needs seriously, says Kerstin Larsson.

In the video, you see when the head of operations receives a direct question from Oskar's mother.
