In Kronoberg, the private vaccinators previously traded have had their operations running without interruption, even though they have adapted to demand.

Therefore, there is no significant difference in the work of the third dose.

A procurement with external vaccinators for 2022 is currently underway.

- We have kept our external vaccinators, so it will overlap with what applies after the procurement, says Lena Andersson Nazzal, vaccine coordinator.

However, she flags that during the Christmas weeks there may be fewer vaccination times.

May take longer

As with the other two doses, the third dose of vaccine will be given first to the elderly and then in turn down to the ages.

The Swedish Public Health Agency recommends that dose three be offered no earlier than six months after the last dose was given, but Lena Andersson Nazzal does not believe that it will be possible to offer all Kronobergers a third dose within six months.

- It is not possible to offer everyone at the same time, but we must invite one age group at a time.

When we open up to new age groups, we will communicate it.

How the region will staff up with staff before dose three is not yet clear.

Does not open vaccination centers

In the Kalmar County Region, the closed vaccination centers in Kalmar, Oskarshamn and Västervik will not be opened before the vaccination of dose three.

Vaccine coordinator Marie Ragnarsson explains that it is basically vaccination at the health centers that applies.

- Then we reach out to all municipalities, she says.

In order to meet the increased pressure, the region will supplement with the help of external actors.

Who these will be has not been announced yet.

In both Region Kalmar County and Region Kronoberg, the vaccination booking for dose three is open to people who are 65 years or older, have home care or home health care and / or live in a special accommodation.

Staff in these care activities can also book a refill dose.
