According to YTN TV, the price of cabbage in the traditional market has skyrocketed by 70%. The cost for a family to pickle 100 kimchi has risen from 900,000 won last year to 1.2 million won, or about 6,500 yuan.
This caused many consumers to give up pickling kimchi directly, which in turn led to a decline in cabbage sales, and the vicious circle made consumers and growers helpless.
