In Greece, where only 60% of the population is fully vaccinated, the constant increase in the number of identified coronavirus cases has prompted the authorities to impose a new series of measures this week against unvaccinated people.

The second in less than a month.

With our correspondent in Athens,

Joël Bronner

At the beginning of November, access to most public places (shops, cafes, restaurants, banks and administration, etc.) had already been reduced to people who had been vaccinated or had a negative test.

From now on, from this Monday, places of culture - such as cinemas, theaters and museums - will simply be prohibited for the unvaccinated, as will sports halls.

In Greece, the vaccination campaign against the Covid comes up against the fears and even the mistrust of a part of the population.

To deal with it, the authorities have therefore just stepped up the restrictive measures.

Since this week and until further notice, it is impossible for the unvaccinated to go to the cinema or the museum for example.

"

I can always go to the casino ... That is not forbidden!"

In his women's clothing store in northern Athens, Takis Karanikas jokes, as if to play down.

At 70, the trader does not want to hear about a vaccine and denounces health measures that he considers authoritarian.

He even says “

Nazis

 ”.

“

The main problem is our lack of freedom.

Especially since despite all the various measures taken by our leaders, the results are inconclusive.

It is as if they randomly take these measurements.

 "

And the trader goes on to say that vaccination is part of a global conspiracy to subjugate people, among other unsubstantiated theories that he feeds on on the internet.

At the same time, with 105 deaths on Monday alone, the number of deaths has reached a new record this year, in this small country of 11 million inhabitants.
