November 23, 2021The control room and the Council of Ministers on the anti-Covid measures to be implemented to counter the fourth wave will be held tomorrow, as expected.

The government will evaluate the proposals of the Regions on the so-called "super green pass", ie on the application of any restrictive measures only to the unvaccinated. This is what emerged from the meeting between the executive and the governors, which was held today.

The decree with the new measures to combat the pandemic, we learn from sources in the Regions, could arrive tomorrow in the Council of Ministers, but first there could be a new confrontation between the government and the Regions.

The new squeeze

The technicians of Palazzo Chigi and of the ministries concerned are working on the measure, with different measures and levels of intervention. The position of the regions is that, in the event of a worsening of the situation with the increase in infections and hospitalizations, the country must not be closed again and those who have been vaccinated must not be punished.

To give certainty to the productive categories and the economy, a

double track

for the green pass

should be introduced

: a certificate that would allow those who are immunized to continue to take advantage of all social and recreational activities and another for those who have chosen not to be vaccinated. , which would only allow access to workplaces and essential services.

On what are the conditions in which the "

super green pass

" is triggered

"The position of the presidents, however, is not unanimous. Some of them have asked that the restrictions for the unvaccinated, with the prohibition of entering restaurants, cinemas, theaters, gyms, swimming pools, stadiums, are already operational in the white zone. Others instead push for the measures to take place from the yellow or orange zone, where some limitations are foreseen.

The presidents of the most exposed regions, from Liguria to Friuli Venezia Giulia, up to Veneto, have also asked the government to restore

border controls

, with swabs at airports and checks on those arriving from the most troubled countries, to stem the wave of infections that comes above all from Eastern Europe. However, ministerial sources have argued that any intervention in this sense would only be triggered following an EU decision.

A choice has already been made by the government and it is the

reduction from 6 to 5 months

the interval between the conclusion of the vaccination course and the third dose. The circular establishing the advance was signed today, Tuesday, by the director of prevention of the Ministry of Health, Gianni Rezza: "The minimum interval foreseen for the administration of the booster dose (booster) with m-rna vaccine to the categories for which it is already recommended (including all subjects vaccinated with a single dose of Janssen vaccine) and in the authorized dosages - it reads - it is updated to five months (150 days) from the completion of the primary vaccination course, regardless of the vaccine previously used ".

Among the measures announced and given for certain, there is also the reduction of the

duration of the green pass

, which will go from 12 to 9 months, although some in the scientific community push for a duration of 6 months. The technical-scientific committee should express an opinion on this, but already in August, when it had extended the duration to one year, the experts had stressed that "the evaluation ... may possibly be revised in the future if new data emerge or are scientific studies have been published that lead to a different conclusion ".

Another measure that should not find obstacles is the

obligation of the third dose for health professionals

and the staff of the RSA.

Experts also discuss the possibility of the obligation being extended to other categories, in particular those most exposed to contact with the public: police forces, public administration employees, professors.

Open debate also on the

validity of the duration of the tampons

.

Among the scientific community there are those who argue that it should be reduced since the results do not guarantee 100% reliability: from 48 to 24 hours for antigen tests and from 72 to 48 hours for molecular ones.
