November 23, 2021An open-hearted meeting with the boys of the Save the Children Light Point on the outskirts of the capital - in Torre Maura - where there is also space for personal anecdotal: "As a child I wanted to play basketball". The prime minister answered the questions of young people ranging from the problem of climate change to the role of the new generations: space also for personal memories: "We have to do things quickly that have not been done before, we have to do them quickly and there are many" .

Draghi: "I'm also looking for my way"

"Always try to think about what you are doing, do it well and have fun," says the prime minister. "We are all looking for the road: I too am looking for it, but it is clear that the younger you are the more difficult it is because you have not passed". "For many years - so the president Mario Draghi - it was not understood that young people are the future. The world is getting older and the future is the young".

The importance of young people in the fight against climate change

"The climate is very important and it is finally understood: now all countries are investing an enormous amount of funds to improve climatic conditions and reduce emissions". Draghi then underlined the importance of involving the new generations in decisions that try to combat climate change: "It is very important that decisions are made with young people. Before the G20 there was Youth4climate in Milan - Youth for the climate - with 450 young people from various parts of the world: there it was very clear that these decisions must be taken with young people and we made this promise ".

Draghi: "I wanted to be a basketball player"

Surprisingly, there was space for personal anecdotes, a sporting vocation which then - says the premier - he "abandoned because he was too short to play that sport". So the president of the council replied to the boys: "As a child, when I was 11-12 up to 21 I would have liked to be an athlete and possibly be a good basketball player." "The important thing is not so much what you want to become but who you are and the most important experience is now, what you are doing, the most important thing is always what you are doing at that moment", underlined the premier.

Draghi also praised the Save the children facility in Torre Maura: "What a beautiful place this is, what a fantastic community, there is a warmth, an extraordinary love in here and your education, your learning, your fun, because without fun things don't stay in the head ".

What is the Light Point?

The
