Born in Salerno on February 18, 1928, he began his career in his city for "Il Giornale di Napoli", before moving to Milan in 1958 to work for the weekly "Epoca", directed by Enzo Biagi. Thanks to Biagi, who had moved to Rome to direct the news, in 1961 he became editor-in-chief of "RT", the first rotogravure of Rai-TV. Later, from 1964 to 1966, on Ettore Bernabei's television, he was called to direct "Tv7", the journalistic weekly of news and customs of Rai.



Since 1968 a series of programs, conceived by him and sometimes conducted, which give him notoriety. From "Face to face", where the public is called for the first time to interact live with national politicians, to "Ring" in 1976, in which well-known personalities and nine journalists sit in a swivel chair in the center of the television studio they point them with quick questions. In "Direttissima" in 1977 he experiences a sort of popular jury, all female, which has the right to intervene by asking questions both to guests and to the conductor.



In 1984 Biagio Agnes and Sergio Zavoli - general manager and president of Rai at the time - called him to direct the "TV-Radiocorriere", historical leader of radio and television information in Italy.

After leaving Rai, in 1995, he was called to the presidency of the Regional Committee for Television of the Lazio Region and, for five years, he followed the problems and interconnections of the local broadcaster to which he dedicated a complex fact-finding survey collected in a volume.
