America records the largest number of airline passengers since the start of the pandemic

The US Transportation Security Administration said on Saturday that it screened 2.24 million air passengers on Friday, the largest number of passengers since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This represented the "highest rate of screening" since March 2020, when the pandemic took hold of the United States and halted travel and business, Lisa Farbstein, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration, said on Twitter.

Earlier, the Transportation Security Administration said it expected to screen about 20 million air travelers during the heavy Thanksgiving travel period from November 19 to 28, and speculated that the numbers would approach pre-pandemic levels.

The major US airlines expected an increase in air travel over the past few days.
