Russia in 2022 may reach the production volume of vaccines against coronavirus in 2 billion doses.

This assessment was given by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov in an interview with the Vesti on Saturday program with Sergei Brilev on the Russia 1 TV channel.

According to him, such a scale will make it possible to achieve capacity within the country.

“We have a stock, we are already exporting these products and we have the opportunity to reach a production volume of 2 billion next year,” Interfax quotes the minister.

According to him, more than 100 million sets of vaccines have already been introduced into civilian circulation.

“These are the two-component Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, and other vaccines that are registered in Russia.

By the end of the year, 300 million doses will be produced, ”said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Earlier, the deputy head of the department Vasily Osmakov, in an interview with TASS, said that Russia had reached the production of 150 million sets of vaccines against coronavirus infection per quarter.

He noted that this volume of production is sufficient both to meet the internal needs of the state and for export supplies.

The specialist clarified that the bulk of production falls on Sputnik V and Sputnik Light, the production of which is scaled depending on the demand from the Russian healthcare system and foreign markets.

“At the same time, a rather motley picture is emerging abroad: some counterparties want to buy a two-component Sputnik V, others are completely satisfied with Sputnik Light,” added Osmakov.

Incidence statistics

Over the past day, 37,120 cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus have been detected in Russia, 36,172 patients have fully recovered, 1,254 have died from complications that developed against the background of COVID-19 and concomitant diseases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 9,294,188 episodes of the disease have been recorded in the Russian Federation, 7,992,426 people have recovered, 262,843 have died.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, over 220 million laboratory tests for coronavirus have been performed for the entire time, including 572 thousand in the last day.

About 1.9 million people remain under medical supervision.

According to the Moscow headquarters, 3239 new cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in Moscow per day.

974 people were hospitalized, 93 patients died.

There are 679 people on mechanical ventilation in Moscow hospitals.

More than 500 new cases of infection were recorded in 21 regions.

In addition to the capital, the leaders are St. Petersburg (2637), Moscow (1885) and Samara (1762) regions, Krasnodar Territory (997) and the Republic of Crimea (886).

Against this background, it became known the day before that the level of herd immunity in the country exceeded 50%.

According to the headquarters, more than 66.4 million Russians were vaccinated with the first component, over 58.7 million are fully vaccinated.

In particular, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on the Russia 1 TV channel that over the past week about 150 thousand people signed up for the coronavirus vaccine, tens of thousands of people are vaccinated daily.

At the same time, he urged not to slow down this pace, and not to forget about revaccination.

“In people who had the first vaccination six or more months ago, about a year, we see titers fall and protection decreases, so it is very important to protect yourself, to do a revaccination, at least with Sputnik Light,” he stressed.

In turn, the virologist of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Butenko, in an interview with Sputnik radio, noted that it would be possible to speak of a decline in the current wave of coronavirus in Russia if the current dynamics of the incidence persists - the number of daily detected cases is gradually decreasing compared to the peak values reached in early November. ...

“It is difficult to make predictions, there are many factors that influence the infection.

The trend is good now.

It is possible to build a mathematical model that if this tendency lasts a week or two, then it will be possible to say that things are moving towards an amendment of the situation, "Butenko said.

Also on russian.rt.com The level of herd immunity to coronavirus in Moscow was 67.1%

At the same time, the virologist believes that it is not yet possible to predict the exact timing of the end of the epidemic.

According to him, the Russians will continue to need to take precautions and get vaccinated.

“Everything will depend on the discipline of the implementation of the necessary measures against COVID-19.

We need to take an example from China, where there is an absolutely strict system of compliance with precautions during an epidemic.

They have achieved great success in this way, ”he concluded.

In turn, Professor of Virology, Chief Researcher at the Gamaleya Center Anatoly Altstein expressed the opinion earlier that the end of the pandemic could occur in 2022.

In an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, he suggested that the virus would remain in the human population for a long time, but there would be no such lethality.

The "delta" strain is special: it has adapted itself best to human society and spreads most efficiently.

Before that, there were no such strains.

I hope that a stronger strain will not appear.

It has differences from the original version, from which the vaccines were made - it takes several times higher antibody titer to neutralize it, "Altstein emphasized.
