The case of the murder of police officer Andreas Danman is considered more serious than a "normal case".

Among other things, because the convict had already been convicted as a 15-year-old of attempted murder against one of the men the district court now considers was the target when the police officer was murdered.

The crime is also aggravated by the fact that it took place within the framework of a gang conflict.

The prosecutor was clear that she wanted to see a harsh punishment - outside the normal degree.

- If he had been over 21 years old, I would have claimed for life, prosecutor Linda Wiking said when the trial ended.

"Is not something we do not see every day"

And on Friday came the verdict - eight years in prison for murder and attempted murder.

A sentence that prosecutor Linda Wiking is still happy with.

She says that you see guys like the 17-year-old, who got into crime early, all too often.

- It is tragic when such a young person ends up in crime, but it is not something we do not see every day, she says.

She talks about the importance of catching young people before they end up in crime and says that this work must start already in primary and middle school.

The mother sought help

The 17-year-old's mother has previously told how she tried to get help for her son via the authorities.

- Ever since he was in seventh grade, I have had long conversations with school and social services, but they have not done much.

I think I would have received better help if I had been born in Sweden, the mother of the 17-year-old suspect says.

Prosecutor Linda Wiking has been in contact with the 17-year-old's relatives several times.

- I understand the mother's grief and struggle, she has done what she could here, says Linda Wiking.
