Kais Saied: Thousands were delegated to Tunisian institutions with forged certificates based on their loyalty

Today, Friday, Tunisian President Kais Saied made veiled accusations against previous governments of administrative corruption and the practice of nepotism in employment on a large scale, which prompted thousands to benefit from jobs in state institutions with forged certificates.

Saeed said during his meeting with the Minister of Employment in the government of Naglaa Boden, that thousands of people applied for jobs with certificates bearing incorrect seals with the complicity of unnamed parties.

He added that a number of them were referred to the judiciary.

The president said, "Many have benefited from these testimonies based on their loyalty and based on the complicity of parties that enabled them to obtain these testimonies."

Tens of thousands of Tunisian university graduates who have been unemployed for more than ten years are calling for their automatic employment and the implementation of a law issued in August 2020 giving priority to recruitment for this type of unemployed.

But President Saeed said today that this law was "designed to sell illusions and contain anger."

The unemployment rate in Tunisia is 18.4 percent, according to statistics for the third quarter of this year, representing more than 762 thousand unemployed.

Saeed, who announced exceptional measures in the country and suspended most articles of the constitution, pledged to combat rampant corruption in state institutions and confront chaos.

"We will purify the country because the people want to purify the country," Saeed said.
