November 19, 2021 Another sentence that risks rekindling the racial tensions that have never subsided in the United States.

Kyle Rittenhouse, the 18-year-old accused of killing two people with a shotgun and injuring a third during race protests in the summer of 2020 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was found not guilty by the jury on all counts.

The young man, who was 17 at the time, claimed to have acted in self-defense against the demonstrators.

On 25 August 2020, in view of a protest in Kenosha for the wounding of African American Jacob Blake, the boy had arrived from Illinois armed with an assault rifle with the intention of protecting some properties from the risk of vandalism.

During the tensions in the streets, Rittenhouse killed two people and injured a third.

The boy has always claimed that he acted in self-defense, frightened by the idea that they wanted to attack him.

The verdict had been expected for three days in an armored city for fear of protests.
