Three young female engineers won difficult prizes - long monopolized by men - in the Dubai Government Excellence Program, which announced the names of the winners, the day before yesterday, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honored the winners in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

The first is an engineer at the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Haifa Abdullah Al Ali, the first Emirati and Gulf woman to specialize in automatic train control systems, and she was awarded the Dubai Medal for Field Employee.

And the second from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dr. Aisha Abdullah Al Nuaimi, who received the Specialized Employee Medal, and is the first Emirati engineer to specialize in nanotechnology and the development of solar cells.

And the third from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Engineer Aisha Muhammad Al Rumaithi, who received the Dubai Medal for the Young Employee, after a rich career of excellence, which started from the primary stage until she obtained a master’s degree in smart city sciences, and presented an integrated file on a sustainable future made by young people.

In detail, Engineer Haifa Al Ali told "Emirates Today", on the sidelines of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme, that nothing compares to her receiving a medal bearing the name of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, a sign. The nature of her work is purely field work in the Roads and Transport Authority.

She added that she is the first Emirati and Gulf engineer to specialize in the field of automatic control of trains, and the nature of her work forces her to attend at different times, whether by night or by day, which made her distinguished among her peers.

It indicated that it monitors systems, conducts periodic field visits and writes technical reports, in addition to maintenance that requires it to be on standby 24 hours a day.

Al Ali explained that she graduated in electronic engineering at the Higher Colleges of Technology, and directly joined the Roads and Transport Authority, more than 12 years ago, and applied to complete her higher studies, but the project was postponed due to the conditions of the "Covid-19" pandemic.

For her part, Dr. Aisha Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, recipient of the Specialized Employee Medal, said that she has been engaged in research in the field of developing solar panels and their systems, in line with the country's climate, with the aim of finding solutions to increase the efficiency of these panels.

She added that she obtained a master's and doctorate in nanotechnology and ways to use it in the development of solar cells, and joined the Research and Development Center at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and deepened the study of this specialization, preparing research until she became Director of the Department of Solar Energy Innovations Center in the Authority, and worked with a team Work to achieve the energy strategy in Dubai and the UAE, which aims to diversify energy sources, and reach 75% of clean energy in 2050.

Engineer Aisha Muhammad Al Rumaithi, recipient of the Dubai Medal for Young Employee, said that it is an honorable award by all standards, especially after changing its name from the New Employee Medal to the Young Employee Medal, which motivates young employees to work hard to obtain it.

She added that she started her career in excellence early, as she is the chairperson of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority Youth Council, and a former member of the Dubai Youth Council, and in the primary stage in 2005, she received the award of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, may God rest his soul, for excellence, and the Sharjah Award for Excellence. Educational at the basic education stage as well.

She added that she obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering with distinction for the first degree, as well as specialized professional certificates and five global leadership programs in sustainable development. 900 volunteer hours

Engineer Aisha Muhammad Al-Rumaithi, recipient of the Dubai Medal for Young Employee, stated that despite her professional and scientific career, and her constant preoccupation, she did not neglect the duty of volunteering, pointing out that she completed 900 volunteer hours, the last of which was the charitable journey in Upper Egypt.

She pointed out that her file in the Dubai Government Excellence Program was under the title "A sustainable future made by young people", pointing out that it contributes to achieving the strategy of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, to be a global and innovative institution, and to achieve the emirate's vision for 2021, related to building a smart and sustainable city.
